LINDA SANCHEZ

Linda Sanchez passed away on December 20, 2024, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO.
Born the middle child in January of 1946 in The Ozarks of Missouri, Lebanon to be exact, ornery was a characteristic that Linda Sue adopted at an early age. She was fortunate to have the best bookend brothers in Johnny, the leader of the family and Donald her littler, but brave brother to look after and mold her into the future’s most generous and nurturing Mother anyone could hope for in Life. The 3 kids were busy bodies from a young age and Linda carried that characteristic far into her life demonstrated mostly by the immaculate house she kept; she was always picking up or cleaning. When she became a mother, she graciously paid her children to do chores around the house, we had to make sure that furniture was polished before mom got home!
Linda and her brothers did everything together except learning to cook and can at the age of six years old, the boys left that to their little sister, that too would be a skill she embraced the rest of her life. Cooking for 4 kids later in life was a task all alone, not to mention she also had to chase this local kid off because he would eat all her Goulash after she went to work, “Damn that Greg Izuo” she would say! Our Mother’s fearless approach to life also started early in those Ozarks where she often had to shoot her bb gun at her brothers to keep them in line. However, there were also times where her and her brothers shared 1 bicycle amongst them and that was the generosity the kids were taught to exhibit.
Adaptation was a skill that Johnny, Linda and Donald learned early in life as they were put up for adoption by their mother after their father’s death. Fortunately, the 3, 5 and 7 year-olds were adopted by Charlie and Marie Leach of Rosendale Missouri. All three kids lived with their new parents on a farm just outside of town until they graduated from North Andrew High School when they all ventured their adult ways.
Later in life as a single mother in the gang riddled neighborhoods of East Los Angeles, Linda would often walk home from her waitress job at 3am with pockets full of cash, coin and a chest full of fearless attitude, all in order to send 4 kids off to school the next day with money for Lunch. A kids bb gun (probably not a bb gun) now was no match for the evil eye she could toss your way, no wonder the gang bangers left Mom alone! Unsupervised swimming as a kid while their parents went to town (even though no one could swim) must have instilled a lifelong sense of adventure as well, I guess.
In adulthood Linda was very attentive, but she never caught her daughter Angela hiding under the bed to ditch school! She was also an authentic and opinionated soul that’s why she could not maintain a Facebook Page, she would read something and more often than not it was opposite of her thoughts, so mayhem ensued! We sincerely feel she was meant to live in the 1700’s and so did she. However, our Mother was very forgiving, she could get into a knockdown, drag out fight with you and hours later she’s doing your laundry and cooking a 10-course meal for 2.
Her loving and sweet soul was never on stage for everyone to see but yet when a young man or two or three needed help, she was there for them. Ask our friends Mike, Big Tom and Richard as they all can attest. These three young men were taken in by our Mother in the 1980’s and 1990’s and they lived with our family until they were capable of moving on in their lives. Most every person that met Linda loved her and thought she was cool but there were a few who may not have liked her candid thoughts. Her humorous approach to Life will never be forgotten by those that still remain to tell the stories.
Linda Sue Leach graduated from North Andrew High School in May of 1964 and married Herb Nease of Fillmore shortly after. Herb and Linda were parents to Travis and Troy Nease born in September of 1967 and October of 1968. After a divorce separated the family, Linda ventured west to find her biological Mother, which she did successfully and happily. Linda remarried Jerry Harding and they were the parents to 2 daughters Angela Harding born on November 30th, 1975, and Joy Harding March 20th 1977. Linda regained custody of her two young boys just after her new daughters were born and her and her 4 children lived together in California from the early 1970’s until 1996 when Linda and her late Husband Gilbert Sanchez moved to Hiawatha Kansas. Linda and Gilbert soon moved to Marysville Kansas where they resided for 20 years. Linda lived that last 5 years of her life in Liberty Missouri with her son Travis and son Troy, daughters Angela and Joy, all right down the street, just as everyone was in Marysville Kansas for 20 years.
Linda was simple and enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, one great granddaughter and of course cooking for everyone. Her and Gilbert loved spending time with their granddaughter Emily, they often dined out for Mexican and Chinese food. Other favorite adventures included some cruise line visits in The Caribbean. Linda was an avid movie lover and game show observer and of course knew more about football than most 78 year old ladies. Her most favorite team was of course The Kansas City Chiefs. Rest In Peace Mother, we miss and love you so very much!!!

Linda is survived by her 4 children Travis and Troy Nease, Angela Harding Woodyard, Husband Matt and Joy Harding Padgett, Husband Scott all of Liberty Missouri.
