Indonesia EARTHQUAKE: 5.1 magnitude quake hits off coast of Aceh

INDONESIA has been rocked by a 5.1 magnitude earthquake just off its west coast.

The quake landed off the coast of Samatra, the northern island of Indonesia, less than 200km from the city of Aceh. It follows a series of quakes hitting the Maluku Islands on the other side of the Asian nation. The tremor struck just before 9.40am GMT (4.40pm local time) at a depth of 33 miles (53km).

The 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit 23 miles off the coast of north west Sumatra.

Maluku was hit by three similar sized quakes in the space of just 24 hours.
