Iran Quake - Information Bulletin n° 1 (26 November 2018)

The situation Report

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale occurred on Sunday, 25 November 2018 at 20:07 pm local time, in Kermanshah province, western part of Iran. The epicentre was in area located at 27 km from Gilan-e Gharb, 32 km from Sar Pol-e Zahab and 33 km from Qhasr-e Shirin, at a depth of 7 km.

According to Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent, 716 persons have been injured in Gilan-e Gharb, Sar Pol-e Zahab, Qhasr-e Shirin, Dalaho, Islam Abad Gharb and Solase-Babajani, and no complete destructions have been reported yet.

In his visit to the affected areas, the Secretary General of Iranian Red Crescent Society, Mahmoud Mohammadi Nasab, said that 1.700 food packages, 10.000 bottles of mineral water, 5.000 kg of rice and 20.000 tarpaulins have been dispatched to the area. Also, 14.124 relief tents are ready for distribution in case of need.

IRCS Secretary General also mentioned that 87 operational teams, 10 ERU teams, 23 debris removal teams, 9 sniffer dogs teams, 20 emergency sheltering teams, 2 emergency medical teams, search and rescue teams as well as nutrition teams have been deployed from Kermanshah, Kordestan, Hamedan, Lorestan and Ilam to Gilan-e Gharb, Sare-Pole Zahab and Ghasr-e Shirin so far.

According to Head of Relief and Rescue Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent, Morteza Salimi, the most injuries are due to the escape of scared people and minor damages to the residential units. The assessment report of 87 deployed assessment teams from 150 villages shows no casualties up to now.

In addition to the deployed teams, relief workers and rescuers together with a number of light and heavy vehicles plus five relief helicopters from IRCS provincial branches in Zanjan, West Azerbaijan, Markazi, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari and Isfahan are on standby to deploy, if necessary.
