Joyce M. Brown, 96, of Corydon, Ind., died Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Ind.
She was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Frank and Alice Gooch Shawler. She was formerly employed as a librarian and secretary at New Middletown Grade School, was a member of New Middletown White Cross Church since 1942 and was a member of the New Middletown Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin E. Brown; her son, Ted Brown Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Dana Brown; her great-granddaughter, Taylor Allie Dille; her brother, Frank Shawler; and her sisters, Sue Baylor and Lavern Padgett.
Survivors include her son, Max Brown; her brother, Jim Shawler (Nina); her grandchildren, Stephanie Brown (Anne), Christina Hess (Jeff), Dawn Tyree and Ted (T.J.) Brown Jr. (Brittany); her great-grandchildren, Samantha McKim (Stephen Hall), Marshall Dille (Erica), Keven Ray (Sadie), Evelyn Brown, Eleanor Brown, Craig Hess (Kelsey), Cole Hess (Kaitlynn), Logan Wolfe (Allie), Dalton Tyree (Savannah) and Lillian Tyree; and her great-great-grandchildren, Maxton McKim, Malachi Hall, Maeva Lee Hall, Marlowe Jo Hall, Jackson Hess, John Allen Hess, Vivvyan Brooke Hess, Paisley Wolfe and Jade Wolfe.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at New Middletown White Cross Church in New Middletown. The Rev. Steve McAfee will officiate. Burial will be in New Middletown White Cross Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon, and after 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at the church.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Brown, Craig Hess, Marshall Dille, Lillian Tyree, Keven Ray, Cole Hess and Stephen Hall.
