A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Iran at 7:43 pm on Thursday.
Tremors were felt in parts of UAE.
Some residents in Ras Al Khaimah told Khaleej Times that they ran out of their flats and went to the street after they felt the tremor at around 7.45pm on Thursday.
"We felt our home shaking and I told my family to immediately go out," said Indian expat Yasser Warsi, who lives on the 11th floor of a residential building in RAK Jazirah Al Hamrah area.
"The mild tremor was like last week. It was not strong but you could really feel things shaking. People living on the upper floors immediately took the stairs and went down," he added.
Yasser said residents returned to their homes at past 8pm.
A 4.6 magnitude earthquake on Richter scale was recorded in the Arabian Gulf at 7.44pm on Thursday, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) confirmed to Khaleej Times. The tremor was seismic in nature and was felt by some residents. No damage to properties or injuries to persons were immediately recorded.
