Che Adams latest

TEAMtalk  report that Everton are the latest club to join the race for Birmingham City star Che Adams.

Adams is hot property, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Celtic all keeping tabs on the 22-year-old's availability.

Birmingham are said to be open to letting the striker leave in the summer for a fee of around £20m.

Garry Monk understands why the biggest names in football would be interested in the 22-year-old - but has his own plan for a youngster who has flourished under his guidance.

“He can go as far as he wants,” the Blues manager said.

“He can be a top level player but he has quite a way to go, quite a lot more understanding and maturing but he’s on that path.

“Our biggest determination is for that to be with us.

“I think you saw that with how we went about it in January with all that interest - and from him back to us. He wasn’t a moment’s trouble in any of that.

“He was very focused, he is enjoying his football, he is at a club that love him.

“The most important bit from our point of view is to be able to sit with him and show him the way forward.

“He needs to just focus on what he is doing and not be distracted by that and play his best football. We want him to be part of the future here. I think he wants that.

“A lot of things have to go right for us and fall into place - that we are all fully aware of - to be able to show Che and our best players ‘This is what we can do going forward and if you want to be part of that, that’s what we would love to do’.”

Alex McLeish has held talks with Birmingham City striker Adams over a Scotland call-up.

Leicester-born Adams, 22, has a Scottish grandparent and has been on former Blues boss McLeish’s radar for some time.

The striker has found his feet in the Championship under Garry Monk this season and already has 19 goals to his name.

Seven of those strikes have come in his last six matches which has prompted McLeish to approach Adams in order to win his international allegiances.

Scotland have fixtures against Kazakhstan and San Marino next month.

McLeish told BBC Sport: "We're a small nation, we have to not leave any stone unturned and Che has been in good form," McLeish said.

"We've looked at Che and we've looked at a lot of potentials who haven't been in recent squads.

"At the moment he wants to keep himself playing at club level. He's having a good season, we've charted his progress. So we'll keep that one open."

He added: "We'll leave it up to him just now and we'll keep monitoring the situation," said McLeish. "It was amicable discussions with him and his representatives.

"I never spoke to Che personally but we've noticed the form that he's been in and we think we can enhance his career. It would be up to him now in the next few months or so."

Berahino out?

Stoke City are preparing to offload Saido Berahino as soon as possible when the summer transfer window opens, the  Mail  reports, after the Burundi international was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The 25-year-old has scored three goals in 23 Championship appearances, which are his only league goals since joining the Potters from West Brom in 2017.

Baggies reveal price tag Newcastle must pay

Salomon Rondon is enjoying a life with Newcastle United after moving to the club on loan following West Brom’s relegation last season.

The striker has gone on to score six goals in the top tier so far during this campaign and Newcastle want to keep him beyond the summer.

But they will have to stump up £16m for his services it has been revealed, according to reports.

Leeds United's 'Spygate' scandal could find it's way on to TV screens as a documentary.

The Daily Mail has revealed that The City Talking - a Leeds film company - have had access to the club this season and a deal could be done for a documentary style programme in the same light as the Sunderland Netflix hit 'Sunderland 'Til I die'.

Striker wants to leave Hull City

Ipswich Town striker Will Keane insists he wants to leave parent club Hull City.

Keane is on loan at Ipswich until the end of the season but remains eager to extend his deal with the club until beyond the summer.

The former Manchester United player struggled at the Tigers but has found some form with Ipswich.

“I’m an Ipswich Town player is the way I look at it,” Keane explained. “My future at Hull is quite uncertain.

“I’m out of contract in the summer although there is a potential extension. I don’t know if that will go ahead so in my eyes I’m an Ipswich player and then we will see what happens in the summer.

“Even though I’m a loan player I feel part of it here and want to achieve the same goals as the players who are here permanently.

“I’m just focusing on my time here and helping the team. It’s probably in my hands because if I can get a run of games and do well and I can help the team collectively then it’s going to reflect well on me.

“The manager here has said that he is committed to the long term at the club and I have enjoyed working with him.”

Sligo star

Derby County are among a host of clubs eyeing a deal for Sligo Rovers defender John Mahon at the end of the season, as reported by  Derbyshire Live  , but face a huge fight for his services.

Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers are also eyeing a move for the Republic of Ireland U21 international, while Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers both want to ensure he remains north of the border.

Big interest

Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton are all chasing a deal for Blackburn Rovers midfielder John Buckley, which TeamTalk reports has led to the Championship side opening talks with the 19-year-old.

Buckley has been with the Lancashire outfit since the age of six and has broken into Blackburn’s first-team squad this season and has less than a year remaining on the first professional deal he signed in January 2018.

Staying put

Motherwell midfielder Jake Hastie has revealed he wants to stay at the club, despite interest from Championship clubs West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United.

The 19-year-old has only recently broke into the team at the Scottish club, but had been linked with a move after impressing.

The Daily Record reported that scouts from the Hawthorns had been to watch the midfielder, who can also operate as a winger.

The academy graduate's contract runs out this summer, but Hastie has suggested that he wants to renew the deal to stay at the club.

Speaking to BBC Sport Hastie said: "I don't want to go anywhere. I want to stay here, keep my feet on the ground and keep progressing.

"I've been lucky to come in straight away. Hopefully I can keep doing what I'm doing."

it is believed negotiations are still ongoing over an extension.

Hastie has played the last five games as The Well have reeled off five wins on the spin. he spent the first half of the season on loan at Alloa.

Here's what the Blues fans had to say

Scouting mission

Aston Villa have undertaken a European scouting mission as they prepare for the summer transfer window, according to reports.

With several players out of contract and loan deals expiring, the claret and blues know that an overhaul could be on the cards ahead of next season and are already making preparations.

And that includes a trip that was made this weekend to watch Belgian side Mouscron take on Cercle Brugge, reports news outlet La Derniere Heure.

Top tier side Mouscron won 3-0 to extend their impressive run of form which has seen them win all five of their fixtures in 2019.

It is not known which player Villa’s talent spotter was watching specifically but there are suggestions it could have been Taiwo Awoniyi, the striker on loan at Mouscron from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old grabbed a goal and created another to take his tally to four goals and two assists in five outings.

Goalkeeper Jean Butez and midfielder Manuel Benson are also named as suggestions in Belgium.

Villa were not alone in watching the game, with representatives from AC Milan, VfL Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb and RC Lens also in attendance.

Meanwhile, Villa have reportedly beaten off competition of Italian giants AC Milan to retain the services of Mungo Bridge.

Will Aston Villa make the Championship play-offs?

9000+ VOTES SO FAR

The 18-year-old, who has played in Villa’s 18s side but also made the step up to the Premier League 2 this season, is said to have been interesting the Serie A club.

Milan, managed by former Italian midfielder and Rangers star Gennaro Gattuso, were reportedly willing to match whatever Villa offered by the way of a professional contract.

The Sunday People, though, claim that centre back Bridge has opted to remain at Villa.

There is clearly an avenue into the first-team set-up at Villa under manager Dean Smith - there are plenty of examples of such inclusion this term.

Young defender Dominic Revan made the bench for the first time in the 3-0 hammering of Middlesbrough earlier this season, while midfield prospect Jacob Ramsey was handed his debut as a second half substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Brom.

On top of that, Smith has regularly included the likes of Jake Doyle-Hayes and Callum O’Hare in his match-day squads before allowing the pair to leave the club on loan in January.

In brief

Middlesbrough are set to land the services of Morten Spencer from local rivals Sunderland after he terminated his contract with the League One side, Norwegian outlet  TV2  is reporting.

The 14-year-old winger has become hot property and had been linked with a £200,000 switch to Manchester City, although Sunderland now appear to not be getting a penny after the teenager decided not to relocate to the north west.

Swansea City have held talks with Ayr United’s highly-rated striker Lawrence Shackland as they aim to beat Rotherham to his services,  the Sun  reports on page 61 of it’s printed edition on Monday.

Shackland has excelled in the Scottish Championship this season by helping Ayr fight for promotion to the top-flight, while the 23-year-old boasts 30 goals across all competitions.

On the same page, the Sun also report that Derby County are keen to bring Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton to the club in the summer after seeing him excel on loan with Wigan Athletic during the last two seasons.

Meanwhile, QPR have extended Billy Garton’s trial with the club and a departure is also expected as  West London Sport  report Niko Hamalainen is on pre-season training with MLS franchise Los Angeles FC.

The north American side are part-owned by QPR co-owner Ruben Gnanalingam and Hamalainen is expected to join the club on loan, having already featured in a friendly against the San Jose Earthquakes.
