San Jose Earthquakes 3-3 LA Galaxy: Zlatan Ibrahimovic nets superb volley and free-kick under the wall but his side throw away two-goal lead

Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted a brace for LA Galaxy but his side were pegged back during a thrilling 3-3 draw against San Jose Earthquakes.

The veteran striker broke the deadlock just before the end of the first minute with a volley from Chris Pontius' header.  

And the Swede made it 3-1 in the 25th minute with a free kick under the wall but his side failed to hold on.

Chris Wondolowski scored twice and the Earthquakes overcame a two-goal deficit to level it up at 3-3 in the second California Clasico of the season.


Wondolowski slotted a penalty in the 69th minute to equalise after Danny Hoesen drew a foul from Michael Ciani. 

He had fired his side back on terms in the 15th minute on a rebound off his saved penalty attempt.

Magnus Eriksson drew the foul against Bradford Jamieson in the area. Wondolowski now has 140 goals, just five behind Landon Donovan's MLS record.

Valeri Qazaishvili had pulled his team back within touching distance in the 39th minute with a superb finish from 20 yards out.

Romain Alessandrini made it 2-1 for the Galaxy in the 20th minute with a free kick from just outside the right side of the penalty area before Ibrahimovic's second but Galaxy collapsed to pick up a solitary point.
