New earth quake measured 3.1 on Richter scale shakes west of capital

ALGIERS, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- A 3.1 magnitude quake on the Richter scale was recorded in Blida, 45 kilometer west of the Algerian capital on Friday.
A statement by the Centre for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG) said the quake did not cause any human losses or material damage, however it's been the second quake since the past two days.
The first quake registered 4.7 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the quake was located 8 km south east of Hammam Melouane (Blida), said the source.
The same area witnessed a much stronger quake with 5.1 on Richter scale in July 2013, causing injury to 20 people and collapse to many buildings. (end) ft.mb
